Alyssa and Hanna met on the dating app Tinder. Hanna was one of the first people Alyssa “swiped right” on and the only person Alyssa ever met from the app. Hanna asked Alyssa out on several dates and was turned down THREE times! Finally during the event Hanna was working, Tales of the Cocktail, Hanna asked Alyssa to meet her at an after party and she finally agreed. After a long night of dancing, they knew they would see each other again.
One of Hanna and Alyssa's favorite weekend traditions is what they call "Active Family Saturdays". Active Family Saturdays can involve a lot of different things but the most special one involved waking up, loading their bikes onto the car and heading to the path along Bayou St. John near City Park with their dog, Charlie. After a nice long bike ride, Charlie decided she was not ready to leave so Hanna grabbed a blanket out of the car and the three sat near the bayou and enjoyed the nice spring weather for a bit. A few moments later, Alyssa noticed some dandelions nearby so she grabbed one and brought it over to the blanket where she made a wish. The same wish she had been making for awhile now - that she would one day get to marry her best friend, Hanna. Immediately after blowing the dandelion, Hanna told Alyssa to go grab another one. Alyssa found the request odd but she did it anyway. As soon as Alyssa got back to the blanket, Hanna confidently asked "Will you marry me?" After a few "is this real?"s and "oh my gosh"s, Alyssa obviously said yes! This took place on March 15, 2020, just days before the City of New Orleans issued a stay at home order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hanna and Alyssa have spent the entirety of their engagement with each other and those close enough to be considered their "quarantine crew". This unconventional engagement makes Alyssa and Hanna even more excited to celebrate their wedding day with you!
