The official journey to "The Wiggins" all started at Texas A&M University. Alyssa and Eric knew of each other through Alyssa's childhood friend Sarah who went to church camp with Eric. Eric's fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, often hosted events with Alyssa's sorority, Delta Delta Delta. Into their sophomore year on New Years Eve, they ended up chatting all night. While still on Christmas vacation, Alyssa invited Eric to ride horses at her parents house. For their first real date, Eric drove to Chappell Hill to meet two very important people in Alyssa's life, her mom and her horse. Luckily for Eric, Alyssa's dad was out of town on business. When they got back to school for spring semester, the rest was history!

Eric totally surprised Alyssa. She had "sort of, kind of" knew a proposal was coming and had been very suspicious of Eric for the weeks leading up to the proposal. He told her about his Ernst & Young company Christmas Party and she believed it was a cover up for the proposal. It wasn't until Eric started talking about the particular cheese he was going to bring to the co-worker's house for the pre-party that she pushed the proposal idea to the back of her mind. After going to the co-worker's house, they arrived at the Marriott Marquis Hotel with the rest of the EY group. Eric mentioned to Alyssa that there was a special area/bar by the Texas-shaped pool that EY had rented out for the party on another floor. Eric lead Alyssa out by the pool to a cabana with the view of Downtown Houston in the background. Alyssa, oblivious to what was happening, thought the set up was for someone else. Eric reassured her, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. She said "yes" of course. Afterwards, Eric planned a big surprise at her sister's house where all their friends and family celebrated.
