Our Story

First comes children's choir, then comes marriage...

Alyssa and Coleton have known each other for quite some time. While they may not have been aware at the time, their paths first crossed in the Children's Choir at Trietsch Memorial UMC about fifteen years ago. Funny how music would be such an important part of their relationship and that it all started there. They became friends around the ages of 11 and 12 when they were in Trietsch's Youth Choir (Uth Kwior at the time), which happened to be under the direction of Coleton's mom Amanda. Most of their time spent together for the next five to six years was spent within the walls of TMUMC or on church trips. They became leaders in Youth Choir and were part of the youth worship team. As the youth program grew and changed, they remained strong in their commitment to the youth program and friendship to each other. They bonded over their passion for music and the struggles they experienced as high schoolers. Alyssa and Coleton were never afraid to be their true selves around each other. Amanda always said she loved to watch Coleton around the Youth Choir kids because he would break through his introverted wall and put his outgoing personality on display. As life continued, Alyssa tried setting Coleton up with multiple of her friends, all resulting in failure. As Coleton was about to go off to college, she realized maybe she was the one who had feelings all along and she should stop trying to set her friends up with him. As they sat and talked one night on their last choir tour together, she expressed her feelings towards him, and Coleton answered in a very Coleton kind of way with an "okay". They continued talking over the next few weeks figuring out how they could make this work. One hot summer July night in 2019, as they sat in the bed of the Chevy Avalanche just finishing 'Avengers: End Game', they decided to make things official. Coleton went off to college at TCU, and Alyssa started liking the color purple. Over the next four years they would make college memories, go through a pandemic, live three hours apart, buy a dog, and travel the world together. But most importantly, they decided that they will love each other forever and always. The Evans and Hedding families grew closer through Coleton and Alyssa's relationship. Their favorite thing to do together is to embark on adventures across the state, country, and world. They have traveled to Turks and Caicos, Oklahoma (a lot), Hawaii, New Mexico, Lake Leon, Alaska, and Colorado. While all of those places are beautiful and capture wonderful memories, Colorado is everyone's favorite by far. In March of 2023, the Evans & Hedding families traveled to South Fork, Colorado to ski for Spring Break. Little did Alyssa (and Matt and Christina) know, an engagement would soon be occurring! As they went to dinner at the country club, Coleton led Alyssa outside to hear a beautiful arrangement of their song "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz, sung by Coleton, Amanda, Lynley, Troy, Kaleb, and Andrew. They spent the evening eating a delicious dinner at the country club and sharing stories of the planning of this evening and their relationship as a whole. Whether you have known us since before our relationship or just in the past few years, we are thrilled to be celebrating with you. We hope you can join us for this exciting evening of the official joining of our two families. We are looking forward to making new memories with each other and with you on our big day and in the years beyond. Whether you are a family member or friend, thank you for considering spending October 5, 2024 with us!
