We're getting married!

Alyssa and Mando’s story began at Oxnard High School, where they first noticed each other in the halls. Alyssa, a year older, would often catch Mando’s eye, and although they both knew of each other, neither had made the first move yet. That changed in July 2020 when Alyssa liked one of Mando’s Instagram posts (which was rare since he hardly ever posted). Taking the opportunity, Mando sent her a message, and what started as a simple DM quickly turned into long conversations that lasted for hours. Just one month later, they officially started dating and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Their love story is unique because it began during the COVID-19 pandemic. While most couples were going out on traditional dates, Alyssa and Mando had to build their relationship in a different way. During that time, all they really had was conversation. They spent countless hours talking, learning about each other’s dreams, values, families, and goals for the future. Without the distractions of traditional dates or outings, they built their relationship on communication and truly getting to know one another on a deeper level. That strong foundation of friendship and understanding became the heart of their relationship. About a year later, when the world slowly started opening back up, they were finally able to enjoy more traditional dates together but by then, their bond was already incredibly strong. As the years passed, their relationship continued to grow. Alyssa had already been attending Cal State Northridge, and with her encouragement and support, Mando joined her there. Together they navigated college life, supporting each other through classes, challenges, and milestones. In 2022, they celebrated a huge accomplishment when they both graduated in the same year, marking the beginning of exciting new chapters in their lives and careers. Adventure also became a special part of their journey. Each year, they made it a tradition to explore new places together throughout Southern California. From relaxing trips to Palm Springs, cozy mountain escapes in Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead, and coastal adventures in San Diego and Carlsbad, each trip created memories that strengthened their bond. In June of 2024, they took an even bigger step in their adventures together with a trip to Cabo San Lucas. For Mando, this trip was especially meaningful because it was his very first time ever getting on a plane. Despite any nerves he may have had about flying, he did it to support Alyssa and her love for traveling and exploring the world. What Alyssa didn’t know at the time was that Mando had actually considered proposing in Cabo. However, the thought of traveling with the ring made him nervous, and he decided to wait for the right moment instead. That perfect moment came later that summer. On August 29th, 2024, during a beautiful trip to Sequoia National Park, surrounded by towering trees and breathtaking scenery, Mando asked Alyssa the most important question of their lives. On their four-year anniversary, Mando got down on one knee and proposed. What made the moment even more special was that he had purchased the ring eight months earlier carefully waiting for the perfect place and time. Alyssa said yes, and in that moment they fell in love all over again. The years since their engagement have been filled with happiness, growth, and excitement as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives together. From a simple Instagram message to a lifetime commitment, Alyssa and Mando’s story is a reminder that the strongest relationships are built on friendship, communication, adventure, and always supporting each other’s dreams.
