Four and a half years together is hard to put into words, but it all started in May 2021. In the middle of COVID, when the world felt paused and everyone was online, Alyssa was finishing her freshman year of college and Ammon was working at Victory Ranch. A one-in-a-million swipe on a dating app turned into something neither of them expected. From the very first day they met, they were inseparable. They simply loved being together, doing anything and everything side by side. They both knew they had truly met their match. One of their first big adventures set the tone for everything that followed. When Ammon’s dad called needing help packing out a moose, a client had shot in Wyoming, Ammon happened to be with Alyssa, and invited her along. She had never been around hunting, never seen a moose up close, and definitely didn’t know what a “pack out” meant. But she went anyway. She rode a horse through the backcountry for the first time, shouldered a hind quarter, and helped get the job done. From that moment on, they were a team. Since then, they’ve guided client hunts, archery hunted, camped under open skies, fished countless lakes and rivers, and built a life around the outdoors they both love. They’ve also stood beside each other through some of life’s biggest milestones. When Ammon was hired by the Salt Lake City Fire Department, pushed through recruit school, and earned his badge, Alyssa was the one who proudly pinned it on him. When Alyssa retired from college swimming after 16 years in the pool, Ammon was right there supporting her. And when she completed her bachelor’s degree in engineering, no one cheered louder than him. And then came the next chapter. After Alyssa’s graduation, they planned a trip to Puerto Rico to celebrate, excited for some well-earned rest, beach days, and the chance to explore somewhere new together. What Alyssa didn’t know was that Ammon had something much bigger planned. On their second night, Ammon made a dinner reservation right on the beach. Before heading to the restaurant, they took a quiet walk along the shoreline to watch the sunset. As Alyssa looked out at the water, soaking in the moment, Ammon dropped to one knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring. It felt like something straight out of a movie, the perfect man, the perfect setting, the perfect surprise. Through tears and complete shock, it was the easiest “yes” of her life. But Ammon wasn’t quite done yet. When they walked to their dinner table, Alyssa was stunned to see her parents sitting there. Ammon had secretly coordinated getting them all the way to Puerto Rico to celebrate with them. In that moment, she felt completely known and deeply loved. It was thoughtful, intentional, and so perfectly them. They spent the rest of their time in Puerto Rico exploring, eating, laughing, and fully embracing their fiancé era, soaking in the joy of what they had built and the forever they were about to begin. Through every first, every challenge, every adventure, and now every new chapter, they continue to choose each other. They’ve made countless memories already, and they can’t wait to keep writing their story and make thousands more, side by side, forever.
