As all modern love stories start, we met online through Tinder. I had just moved from South Carolina to New York. I put in my bio about my nerdy interests and that I was new to the area, and after I matched with Joseph he offered to show me around NYC. Our first date was a grand tour of Manhattan. Starting off with lunch Shake Shack at Grand Central Station, dessert at Grace Street in K-town, then walking along the high-line, and ending with Karaoke. It was a whirl wind of a first date, and yet despite being strangers, it all felt natural. Like we've known each other for a long time. We both liked anime, video games, and music. We both weren't big movie people, but we did just see "Crazy Rich Asians" that past week. We even planned to go to AnimeNYC together on our first date. What followed was the two of us falling in love, growing close together, and becoming inseparable. We learned how similar we are, and how different. I hate loud noises and yet love concerts. Joseph doesn't mind loud events but can't be on his feet for long periods of time. We both dislike pickles. We became adults together. Adopted a little black cat, Hinata, together, and grew even more in love. A journey that started on August 25th, 2018 will enter a new chapter nearly 7 years later on September 6th, 2025.
