We met at a fraternity party at Troy University where we exchanged phone numbers. Weeks had passed and I had not heard anything from Aaron. Searching for any excuse to see him again, I decided to try my luck and invite him over to play a game of 'Yahtzee!'. To my surprise, he said yes. There was only one problem. I DID NOT OWN YAHTZEE! Frantically, I made the trek to Walmart where I quickly purchased the game and made it back to the house with only minutes to spare. I was afraid the newness of the board game would blow my cover of a casual hangout session, so my roommate and I managed to scribble in a bunch of score cards. Now we looked like seasoned 'Yahtzee!' players. Just in time too! Aaron arrived with his fraternity brother and we all played a few games together. Later that evening, Aaron asked me to be his date at the upcoming date party for his fraternity. After that we were basically inseparable. We met each other's families after dating for only two weeks, and have been together for over five years.

After picking out the engagement ring, I was having trouble deciding a date to ask. After thinking on it, I decided on New Years Eve and bought the ring. After having the ring sit in my closet drawer for two days, I knew that there was no possible way to wait any longer. We went on a Christmas date to Belengrave Gardens and I decided that would be the perfect place to ask. After walking around the gardens, I started to think that I would never find a quiet place to ask. We happened to walk into a courtyard and found a bench under a huge live oak tree. I wasn’t nervous at all. We started talking about Christmas coming up and the topic of gifts we wanted. I asked her what she would like most for Christmas. She said, “An engagement ring.” I’m not sure she was expecting her gift that quick but I am very glad I was the one to give it to her.
