Flying into LAX is probably easiest. You can rent a car there or catch a cab or a Lyft / Uber (which we'd recommend because they're usually cheaper than cabs). We'd recommend staying in the Hollywood area or somewhere nearby, since LA traffic can be a beast. TripAdvisor.com and Booking.com are great resources for finding affordable hotel rooms and Airbnb.com is always great for renting an apartment or house at a more affordable price.
