We actually met at a mutual friends birthday dinner. The funny thing was, we both almost decided not to go, but the friends we were with forced us to come out that night. (Thank goodness they did!) Craig ended up giving me a ride home. I (Alyssa) ended up leaving my rain jacket in his car (it was an expensive one too!), so I texted him the next day asking if I could get it back. To this day, he says I just texted because I wanted to go on a date, when really all I wanted was my jacket! (JK!) We went on a date the following Wednesday, and the rest is history.
It would not have been their proposal had Alyssa not walked up to the gazebo with a bill in her hand, headed straight for her dad, ignoring Craig standing up waiting for her. Craig had been planning this for weeks. He made sure all of Alyssa's family (mom, dad, stepmom and stepdad) were in town to be there. He recruited his mom, Amy, to help set up the gazebo (it was absolutely beautiful) with lights and flowers. He got down on one knee with all their friends and family there to watch. It could not have been more perfect.
