Alyson had just recently entered college and began working in Quality Control at Colonial Savings. Jeremy had been working in the mail room at Colonial for a few years prior. One day, Jeremy spotted Alyson as she walked across the parking lot with some paperwork and he leaned over to his friend and asked, "Who the hell is that?" After his friend answered, Jeremy responded with certainty and a hint of foreshadowing, "I'm going to marry that girl." Alyson was not wooed by Jeremy's charms right off the bat, however. He did share his [questionable] taste in music and his love of movies with her, and according to Jeremy, Alyson continued to play hard-to-get. They were friends for a little while, then best friends, and that quickly grew to love.
Jeremy planned the official proposal for about two months. He had booked a room at the Omni in Fort Worth, ordered and secured the ring, and planned out the time and place he was going to finally pop the big question they both had been waiting for. For those of you that know Alyson, she's not big on surprises so Jeremy was very careful about how much spontaneity he wanted to do for the proposal. For those of you that know Jeremy, he's not one to hold in a secret for long. The day before the proposal, Alyson came home from a long day at work, tired and irritable. Jeremy was clearly bursting to spoil the surprise and Alyson could sense it. He hinted a little too much at what he was planning. "We're going to the park tomorrow so wear something nice," he told her. Of course, this left Alyson spiraling with questions - and some concerns. Why are they going to the park? Why would she need to dress nice to go there? Most importantly, who in the hell was going to pop out of the bushes to take pictures? Jeremy knows Aly much too well. The next day, Jeremy got Champion - one of their three fur babies - ready for a walk at the park, and took Alyson to the bench they sat on when they first started dating; he recreated one of their fondest memories together. No one jumped out of the bushes. He said all of the right things and he pulled out the ring from the box that was clearly visible through his pocket. It was perfect.
