Our love story began long before we truly met. We were rivals on the field, each striving for victory, but it wasn’t until years later that our paths crossed in a completely different way. Fall of 2019—postseason baseball, crisp autumn air, and one very nervous first date. The Houston Astros were playing, and while we were both excited to watch the game, one of us (not saying who) was also trying to play it cool. So cool, in fact, that in an attempt to impress the other and avoid admitting they didn’t know how to parallel park… she accidentally backed into another car. (Spoiler: we still got a second date.) That night, as we sat in a packed sports bar in downtown Houston getting to know each other, every single TV was playing the Astros game- except for one small screen in the corner, showing the Kansas City Chiefs (Brittany’s favorite team). That tiny screen in the corner felt like a sign!!! Over the past six + years, our relationship has withstood long distance, a global pandemic, a big move, and everyday moments in between. What has and always will keep us grounded isn’t just love, but the respect we hold for each other, our shared faith, and the values that our families have instilled in us. As we step into this next chapter, we do so with deep gratitude- not just for each other, but the lives and love that came before us. The examples of faith, commitment, and joy have shaped us into what truly matters. We carry that with us as we continue to build a future together.
