Our love story began during a spring break in Florida (I know, it sounds like the opening scene of a cheesy rom-com). It was 2020—Alyna’s sophomore year of college and Branden’s junior year. On March 7th, Branden walked up to Alyna in front of all her friends, holding an XL Margarita in his hand, and the rest is history. After making her laugh so hard her stomach hurt, they stayed up all night, stargazing and talking about everything and anything. They both knew instantly that something special had clicked between them. For the next few years, Alyna and Branden navigated long distance—Branden balancing football practice and games, while Alyna focused on studying for tests and courses. Despite the distance, they always found a way to stay connected. Flights to Massachusetts, Texas, and Nebraska became routine, and every moment they spent together was cherished. Whether exploring new places or laughing late into the night about the most random things, their bond only grew stronger. Although they came from different worlds, neither could stand being apart any longer. Eventually, Alyna made the big move from Massachusetts to Nebraska. She traded beach summers, Boston sports, and city life for days on the river, Husker games, and the slower pace of country life. It was a big change, but the Hohenstein family—and, of course, her love for all the animals, including our not-so-baby cow, Gwennie—made her feel right at home. Now, we’ve built a life we love, with a beautiful new home and countless sunsets on the river to share. We’re excited for all the adventures that lie ahead and for the places we’ve yet to see. Surrounded by family, animals, and the people who matter most, we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
