When it comes to romance stories, I'd like to say we were meant to be. We met in a Geology class at Old Dominion University in the fall semester 2018. We started talking and sitting by each other in class, in the front row. We would end up studying at the library in the afternoons and into late night hours, during the week of an exam. He was the perfect gentleman and walked me to my dorm on his way to his. I found that Marine Biology was not for me in the spring semester. I decided to go back to Richmond to get my associates. We lost touch then in the peak of COVID during the shutdown, February 2020, we got back in touch and it was like picking up where we left off. We were texting day and night, and then it turned into FaceTiming once a week, then two times a week, and then every day. We went on our first date on the 21st of February, and we both knew we found our better half. We made our relationship official just 3 months later on May 14th. We did a 2-hour distance relationship, then in the winter of 2020, my family decided to relocate to Colorado. I was going to finish getting my Special Education degree, while Alyjah finished his Civil Engineering degree at Old Dominion University. We still wanted to be together, so thus started the 24-hour, 14,000-mile, long-distance relationship. Both Alyjah & I agreed to make it work. We worked through the time difference issues and only being able to see each other 1-2 times a year. 2 1/2 years later right after my graduation in May 2024, we moved me back to Virginia. On our second vacation to Maine during the 4th of July festivities on the lake, while helping to rearrange the outdoor furniture he got down on one knee. Now we get to start our lives together, for real this time!
