We meet at church and had known each other as friends for about a year in a half before we started dating. Alycia was still attending school at Liberty University, and conversations mostly consisted of watching movies together over the phone and playing Minecraft. Our first date, at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art, was on Feb 24, 2018, the idea of which Josh admittedly stole from the movie Hitch. (Witten by Josh Harrison)
The master plan began with a suggestion from Alycia. It was shortly after her birthday, when she suggested doing a few things in celebration of her birthday, namely visiting the Ginter Botanical Gardens, the Science Museum of Virginia, and The Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Little did she know, she had chosen her own proposal. The day began well enough until disaster struck: Josh had forgotten to purchase tickets to the Science Museum. He was utterly distraught. As Alycia began to console him, she knew something was amiss. They proceeded to Short Pump Town Center and shopped until lunchtime. The plan was to meet Kristen and Josiah for a "double date". They arrived at the VMFA with time to kill prior to the proposal. Josiah and Kristen were both in on the plan, accomplices in the clandestine operation. While Josh was keeping Alycia focused on the artwork (a full-time job, to be sure), the others were busy preparing the site. Site preparation was not without its challenges: Security guards that needed to be repositioned and Alycia's growing concern arousing her suspicion. She was ushered from the Cafe at 3:40ish, and the proposal took place under some cherry trees in bloom. Josh professed his love for her, and apologized for "leaving her hanging so long"... at which point he glanced over his shoulder and caught with his gaze her ring, which was hanging delicately from a branch. She said "yes"! (Written by Josh Harrison)
Josh hid a secret message in some letters he wrote Alycia (01.24.2020). He wrote 12 letters for her to read when she was away on a cruise. They didn't know if they would get to talk at all during that time so Josh wrote her a letter to read every morning and night!! Little did she know he had a message hidden in there all along. The first letter of every letter spelled out "Casate conmigo?" which translates to "Marry me?" He got her! These letters were on her nightstand for a little over a year and she had no idea.
