Stephen and I met on a dating app, but we quickly put our relationship to the test when the world shut down in March 2020. With no bars or restaurants open in Denver for our first date, we found ourselves sitting at his kitchen counter with grocery store pizza and White Claws, talking for hours. Stephen had 2 weeks off from the oil field and my speech therapy clinic closed for the foreseeable future... "Should we just go on a road trip?". I knew my spontaneity had met its match and after one short week of knowing each other, we set off on a camping trip across Arizona. We spent the 13 hour drive learning everything about each other and quickly letting our goofy personalities show. Bouncing from campsite to campsite, we had an unforgettable week of swimming in rivers, watching sunsets over lakes, campfire dinners, and nightly smores. On our final day, all campsites had shut down and we were forced to spend the night in the middle of the desert, under a sky full of stars, and I knew I was already falling for him. This was the first of many adventures together.
The happiest place on earth, Vail, Colorado. Stephen and I have many special memories here - our first "staycation", drinks in the village with Carbon, and many weekend ski trips. We started the morning with Wendy's honey-butter chicken biscuits (my favorite) and a snowy sunrise drive from Denver - I remember thinking, "This day can't get any better!". I was quite wrong. After a wonderful day of skiing, we were walking to one of our favorite restaurants in Vail village and Stephen led us to a beautiful bridge over the creek. He gave the sweetest proposal and I said "YES" to forever!
