Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Hannah Victoria Mason and Jesse Aaron Aldridge
We are so excited to share a few of our favorite Mississippi places with you ~ some of these are places that we frequented while dating, and others are places that Hannah highly recommends. We are both a fan of supporting all things local...and we think you'll love some of these fun places, too!

Brookhaven

Brookhaven, MS 39601

Brookhaven, "A Homeseeker's Paradise", is Hannah's hometown and she says it happens to be the BEST small town in Mississippi! We have many small businesses, plenty of places to shop, wonderful coffee shops, great places to eat, and the prettiest downtown area! From local restaurants & shopping downtown to driving around the Historic Old Towne District - make yourself at home! Here are just a few of our favorites: BREAKFAST - The Old Koke Plant, Dude's Biscuits, Janie's LUNCH - Janie's (chicken on a stick), Georgia Blue (fried chicken), Betty's (short rib grilled cheese), Bob's (flat hotdog) DINNER - Betty's, Magnolia Blues (Hannah's FAVORITE), The Fish Fry, Tortilla Soup COFFEE & SWEET TREATS - The Wild Fox (the Newman is the best!), PJ's Coffee, Janie's Pastry, Sweet & Petite, Mag Blues (cheesecake!!), Ole Brook Nutrition (Pretty in Pink is the BEST!) SHOPPING - Expectations, Engravables, Hall & Co., Beyond the Rainbow, Castles Ladies Apparel, Downtown Shoes, A. Morgan Boutique.

Wesson

Wesson, MS 39191

This small little town is just that - SMALL! It is about 15 minutes from Brookhaven, and, if you would like a truly unique experience, go visit Mill Town Mall & Antiques. It is a 2-story antique store that we frequented while dating. We would spend a lot of time just looking around & talking about the unique pieces they have. Also, Hannah went to college at Co-Lin (the community college in Wesson). If you want a simple lunch in a fun eatery, stop by 51 Diner -- Hannah ate many lunches there while in college. She recommends the fried chicken strips and a strawberry milkshake!

Ocean Springs

Ocean Springs, MS 39564

After Brookhaven, Ocean Springs is Hannah's favorite Mississippi town. If you go, you must spend a lot of time in the downtown district - go to Government Street for all of the fun shops, eateries, and coffee shops. Some of our favorite places are: Bright-Eyed Brew, The Lady May, Mosiac (we ate here right after our engagement!), Bella Rose Boutique, and French Kiss Pastries (Hannah's favorite desserts in Mississippi!). You must go to Front Beach and relax! You can also rent golf carts to explore the downtown area. Biloxi (where Jesse proposed!!) is just over the bridge and they have many places to eat seafood - The Reef is our favorite, and Patio 44 is a close second. The Mississippi Aquarium is also in Biloxi, and is fun for children of all ages!

Natchez

Natchez, MS 39120

Natchez is a fun day trip! It is one of Mississippi's most historic small towns and was a key battleground during the Civil War. We recommend driving over and looking at the beautiful antebellum homes (they offer tours if you have the time - Rosalie is Hannah's favorite), walk the Riverwalk, go to Natchez Under the Hill - we really like Magnolia Grille, take pictures with the Mississippi Bridge as the background, and go ride the beautiful Natchez Trace! We also recommend stopping at Darby's for their homemade fudge! Roux 61 is Hannah's favorite restaurant in Natchez. If you go, you must try the Plantation Cake! Also, Pearl Street Pasta is very good Italian - and people will drive from far away to go to Fat Mama's Tamales!

Jackson/Flowood/Madison Areas

While dating, we spent a lot of time in these areas - just an hour or so drive from Brookhaven, there are plenty of things to do. Some ideas: PLACES TO EAT: Primos Cafe (the first place we ate together after we started dating - we had breakfast!), Aplos (Hannah's very favorite - this is where Jesse surprised her one evening), Sombra, Mugshots, Bulldog Burger, Brent's Drugs (this is SUPER cute!), Elvie's, Koestler Prime, Broadstreet Bakery, The Bean, The Turquoise Chandelier (tell Amy that we sent you!!), Cultivation Food Hall (Mississippi's Only Food Hall), Sal & Mookie's, Walker's Drive In, Whimsy Cookie, The Prickly Hippie, Cock of the Walk (a great southern experience!). PLACES TO GO: Highball Lanes (bowling alley & restaurant), McClain Safari & Restaurant, The District at Eastover, Highland Village, Downtown Fondren, The Renaissance, The Paul Barnett Reservoir. PLACES TO SHOP: Madison Marketplace, Fresh Ink, Lemuria Books, Gifts by KPEP, Paper Doll.

Hattiesburg

Hattiesburg, MS

Hattiesburg is a little over 1.5 hours from Brookhaven - and is a nice, little college town! We spent a day here while dating, and really enjoyed it! We recommend going to The Lucky Rabbit to enjoy a unique array of vendor booths and play the yard games outside, Java Moe's for coffee, Ed's Burger Joint or El Rayo for lunch, walking downtown Hattiesburg and shopping, going on a mural hunt & taking pictures, The Yard for super fun milkshakes, and finally a nice dinner at Patio 44 or Mario's Italian (it's the best!). Also - should you have time, Red Bluffs isn't far from Hattiesburg and is known as "Mississippi's Grand Canyon". It is a fun place to stop and take pictures at - if you're adventurous, you could hike it! Fun fact: Hannah's mom used to play here when she was a little girl!
