How We Met

May 2017

Jimmy was in Philly visiting his best friend Emily, who happened to be both a classmate and friend of Amanda. The two went out to a party, where Amanda and her friends were going too. The two didn't actually meet that night, but Jimmy noted interest in "dimples" across the room. A few weeks later, Emily was sharing photos from a ball she attended at the Naval Academy, where Jimmy went to school. Amanda couldn't help but ask her who this 'cute' man was. We can assume Emily laughed at this coincidence, two of her friends noting interest in the other, and agreed to share contact information so the two could start to talk. Jimmy promptly introduced himself to Amanda as, “your future husband” and all of this texting led to a first date! After Amanda pleaded Jimmy not to drive all the way up to Philadelphia ‘just for her’, Jimmy came anyway and the two had an epic first date!

How He Asked

Christmas Eve 2019

Amanda and Jimmy were excited to be traveling home for the Holidays for the first time since moving out to CA. With so much to do in two-weeks, the two agreed to spend Christmas separately. Amanda would spend the holiday in CT with her family, and Jimmy in NYC with his (..so Amanda thought). On Christmas Eve, Hunter approached Amanda and explained that Jimmy had sent him some gifts in advance for her to open on Christmas Eve. Slowly, Amanda opened the boxes, finally getting to the smallest one. Inside was a beautiful necklace and a note, 'turn around'. Amanda, unsuspecting, turned over the box, confused... Ginger, giving a helpful nudge, turned Amanda around and through the door she saw Jimmy, standing there, smiling ear to ear, with a big bouquet of roses in his hand. When Jimmy came in, it was hugs, cheers, and laughter from everyone, but they did not know the best part was yet to come. Jimmy looked at Amanda, said, "There's one more," and began to get down on one knee. There, in the middle of the kitchen, with all of Amanda's family eagerly watching, Jimmy asked Amanda to marry him!
