A busy evening in the Lehigh Valley Hospital emergency department was the last place Madisyn or Alvin expected to find love, but things truly do happen when they're meant to happen. Alvin was on his first twenty-four hour shift that week in February. A page came to his beeper alerting him to a cardiac emergency present in the emergency department. He came to bedside where he found Maddie performing CPR on his patient. Even amidst the chaos and high stress of the situation, he couldn't help but be struck by her presence (not to mention excellent compressions). For Maddie, this was another busy shift in the books – her experience in the emergency department made critical moments like this routine. To be honest, she didn’t really even notice Alvin in the moment! Later in the week a similar circumstance led to them caring for a similar patient. Alvin said, "We have to stop meeting like this...", and from there their story began. What came across as a suave line had been rehearsed multiple times in Alvin’s head when he first noted Maddie again that evening. After becoming friends and chatting on Facebook (and initially ghosting Alvin) the two had their first date was at a Thai restaurant named "La Kang" in Easton, Pa. They’ve gone to the same restaurant every year on their anniversary to celebrate. Both Alvin and Maddie had talked extensively about their desires to build a future and eventually have a family together. After months of planning, they finally got engaged in Rockefeller Center underneath the Christmas Tree on December 7th, 2024. Now it’s time to have the wedding!
