In 2017, Belinda was told about an opportunity for a paid internship for the HeadStart Program in Newark NJ. She did the interview and got the job, as she was one of the first interns to join the following year more interns joined the team. During this time Belinda was working side by side with a family worker named Rosa and they immediately hit it off. As more interns came along Alvin was one of them. How did Alvin hear about the internship? From his mother’s best friend Rosa and since she put in a good word he got it. At first Alvin seemed to be a serious person who had a tough demeanor which was the opposite of Belinda. During their first meeting Alvin told another friend how “annoying that girl is because she was bubbly while helping pass out papers.” What Belinda thought in her head was “why is this guy so serious and why does he look so mean?” After a summer of working closely together Belinda and Alvin started to build a friendship which led to lunch dates and phone calls. Many people asked “why don’t you guys date?” But they didn’t see each other in that way…yet. In 2019, Belinda told Alvin about her dating life and how she wanted to put herself out there so he took the initiative and created a Tinder profile for her. Belinda soon met someone that lasted a few months but didn’t move further so she deleted the account. Alvin however was doing what Belinda wanted which was get to know people and go out on dates. In 2023, Belinda and Alvin called each other to catch up and it resulted to Alvin taking Belinda to an Ed Sheeran concert which he wasn’t invited to and she went alone. Just recently Alvin shared “when I saw you that day I looked at you differently but didn’t want to ask if you were dating anyone, I assumed that you were.” In 2024, while still keeping contact here and there Belinda’s aunt Fanny told her how she saw Alvin in QuickChek. Belinda then texted Alvin “Hi I love you and miss you, I hope everything is okay.” On June 1, 2024 Alvin came to Pennsylvania to hang out with Belinda and every weekend after that day they never stopped. After multiple trips and hang outs Belinda wondered if he liked her while Alvin was receiving advice to ask her out already. Since they have been friends for 8 years! Now it’s 2025, Alvin and Belinda are engaged and are finally getting married. From strangers, to best friends, and now soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Fisher.
