The Engagement

Best Laid Plans...

Justin planned a flawless engagement - if only the weather and Disney had cooperated. Justin rented a pontoon boat for the two of them and Lauren's family to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom in Disney World during their family vacation. Unfortunately, there was a mix up with Disney and the fireworks weren't scheduled for an hour later - just in time for the rain to start. The crew pressed on and went out on the water despite the rain and cold temperature. Joining them on the boat were: Lauren's parents - Barry and Pamela; Lauren's sister, Jessica and her now husband, Grier; Lauren's nephew, Matthew; and Justin's brother, Bryan. Everyone was using bath towels to keep dry and warm until the fireworks started. Everyone on the boat knew of the pending proposal but Lauren, so needless to say they were eager for him to get on with it. As the first set of fireworks went off it was with a bit of a let down as the smoke wouldn't clear and the fireworks weren't visible. The show however needed to go on and Justin proceeded to invite Lauren to the front of the pontoon boat where he got down on one rain-soaked knee and asked her to marry him. She quickly said 'Yes' and Justin placed the ring on her finger only to find out it was three sizes too big. The evening was filled with blunders but more importantly it was overcome with the love that the two of them had for each other. And at least they have a good story to tell their children.
