“We’re getting married”

We met while Marcus was working at the gas station. That night my friends and I went to our college homecoming party. After the party we stopped by the gas station to get some food since nothing else was open. I walked in the gas station with my friend and when I got in the check out line, I noticed the guy behind the counter starring at me. There were about three other people in front of me but this guy seemed to have his eyes locked on me. I was in line for about two minutes when a second guy came out and opened up another register. He then ushered me to come to his line. When I got up to the counter, the guy who had his eyes locked on me (Marcus) immediately stopped what he was doing and asked me for my number. Needless to say I was intrigued so I gave it to him. When I got back to the car, I get a call and it’s guy from the counter (Marcus). I answered and he jokingly says “ it’s the guy you just gave your number to. I just wanted to make sure you gave me a real number.” Usually something like that would be a turn-off but something just seemed different about him.

About two days after we meet, we went on our first date. Marcus asked me out for breakfast, which was something different in my eyes. On that day we decided to meet at Cracker Barrel. I was running a little behind but when I arrived Marcus was waiting at the entrance ready to greet me with a rose. Although very simple, it was the little things that sparked my interest. We sat at Cracker Barrel for over two hours just talking. His humor and upfront honesty immediately attracted me to him.
