On March 13, 2020 -- the day Los Angeles County went into lockdown -- fate brought Alex and Fabian together. Alex struck up a conversation with Fabian after an accidental swipe on Bumble matched the two of them together. While the swipe may have been accidental, the two found they had much in common and quickly bonded over their shared interests in pop culture. They planned a first date that would happen in the near future, because "everything will be fine in two weeks!" In the following months, the app Teleparty became their best friend, allowing them to watch movies together every Saturday night -- a tradition that they still uphold. They entered a "long-distance courtship," as they called it, and finally met up for their official first date exactly 5 months after they met online. It may not have been Scum and Villainy Cantina like they had planned, but a Chipotle picnic at Pomona College was just as nice. Fabian walked Alex back to her apartment and asked her to be his girlfriend, to which she happily exclaimed through her mask, "I'm smiling so hard right now, you just can't tell!" The next two years of long-distance romance were only made worse by the pandemic, at times keeping the two of them from seeing each other for more than a month. Fabian's work schedule also prevented the couple from getting to spend some major holidays together. All this added strain only made them stronger, and on December 17, 2022, the couple's first real Christmas celebration together, Fabian popped the question. Aided by her cat Lil Kitty, he asked Alex to marry him with a ring that he had tricked her into believing he couldn't get. Fabian and Alex are getting married at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, one of their favorite hotels on the Strip (and one that isn't being torn down). They cannot wait to celebrate with their loved ones.
