Almost like a classic story of girl meets boy. Austin, a country boy from Texas dressed as a bunny, and Megan, a valley girl from California dressed as a strawberry, met while strolling through Waikiki Beach with friends on Halloween in 2017. As they crossed paths the first time, their eyes met. Their groups were introduced and despite Austin's attempt to not "seem" like he was military for fear that this "local girl" would reject him, he was able to convince her to give him her snapchat. 3 days later, they were back in Waikiki for a quick, casual meet and greet at Cheeseburgers in Paradise. It started at 5 pm and before they knew it, it was 11 pm and the two had spent 6 hours just walking up and down Waikiki, talking about their goals, and sharing their first beautiful sunset together. Since that day, the two (with friends too) spent almost every day together, skydiving, cooking, baking, doing homework, driving around the island in Austin's Mustang, hiking, and getting to know each other. They weren't looking for love but both shared the same faith, work ethic, political views, and dreams. And before anyone could doubt it, they became official as boyfriend/girlfriend. They also made a pact that they would break up in 6 months if they felt they weren't meant to be together long-term. To Megan's surprise, Austin surprised her with a beautiful rose gold promise ring instead! Megan's biggest priority was to graduate from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a BA degree in Communications and Minor in Political Science. Austin honored that goal but laid the groundwork by asking for her father's blessing and both her brothers' blessings during Christmas vacation. Do you think it was love at first sight?

It was March 9, 2019 and Megan was having pictures taken with her cap and gown for graduation. It was the golden hour and they were right by the location that she & Austin had met for their first unofficial "date." The sun was slowly starting to set. Austin had carefully planned the surprise with Hannah, one of Megan's best friends, who was also the photographer. As Megan was walking away with her back towards the camera for a picture, Austin jumped into the picture with a sign saying "Will You Marry Me?" (picture in Engagement Photos). Hannah called Megan over to look over the pictures and Megan saw it... then looked around to see Austin slowly getting down on one knee with the most beautiful ring to propose. Of course, Megan said "Yaas!!!" They kissed with one of Hawaii's most beautiful sunsets as their backdrop. The two are planning their big day and excited to walk side by side together until the sunset of their lives! Let their journey begin!!
