We can’t wait

It all started with a kitten stuck in a tree. Amber and Shawn first met 11 years ago, as neighbors. One night while her parents were out of town, Amber’s kitten escaped and ended up stuck in a tree in the front yard. Shawn, who happened to be having one of his usual gatherings across the street, came over to help rescue the kitten and introduce himself. After that, the two started spending time together and quickly realized there was something there. But as much as they cared about each other, the timing never seemed quite right. Over the years, their paths continued to cross, and somehow they always found their way back to each other. Even when life pulled them in different directions, there was always something that kept bringing them back. Eventually, Amber decided to move to Chicago to experience something new and chase a different chapter of life. Ironically, the distance made Shawn realize pretty quickly that she was the only person he wanted by his side. After a year of visits back and forth, constant phone calls, texts, and missing each other a little too much, Amber moved back home. Although Amber technically moved into her friend Leila’s house first, she spent so much time at Shawn’s that the transition to officially living together happened pretty naturally (and very quickly). Since then, they’ve built a life full of adventure, laughter, growth, and support. Together they’ve raised a puppy, bought and sold their first home, purchased their second home together, traveled, volunteered abroad, and pushed each other to become better people along the way. They balance each other perfectly! Shawn reminds Amber to push herself to succeed, while Amber reminds Shawn to enjoy life along the way. Somewhere between all the adventures, hard work, laughs, and late-night talks, they built a life neither of them could have imagined back when they first met as neighbors. Now they can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of the people they love most.
