We met when Michelle was 10 and Doreen was 13. We were anything but fast friends, to say the least. But as the years progressed we became friends and then best friends. We began a romantic relationship in 2000 and struggled with it for many years. In September of 2017 we decided we were in love and wanted to be together. We just could not fight it anymore. In March of 2019 we began talking about marriage. At first we thought we might elope in secret. But then decided that if our friends and family wanted to be a part of our special day then they should have the option. Next came the hard part of "coming out". Although the most difficult and painful process we have been through, we were glad to be able to be who were are and declare our love. Then on August 3, 2019 while on a day trip to the Tri Cities with Michelle's sister Cher, we stopped in Prosser to see what time our favorite quilt shop opened or so Michelle thought. We walked over near the river edge to look around. Doreen surprised Michelle by getting down on one knee and popping the question. Fortunately Cher got it all on video. Michelle of course said yes and now here we are. The path here was not an easy one, but we are so glad to finally be getting hitched!
