Steven and Alyssa were introduced through mutual family friends. Even though they attended the same elementary school, same highschool, had mutual family friends, and lived around the corner from each other; their paths never crossed. However, in God's time, the couple met and clicked instantly. Alyssa was hesitant at first because she refused to do long distance, but after a few dates and a very memorable birthday at a dirtbike race, long distance didn't sound all that bad. Turns out, with the right person, it can be quite easy. Only four months into dating Steven gave Alyssa a promise ring for Christmas because they both knew it was going to last forever. Now they will get to celebrate their forever with you on November 12th, 2021.
The weekend of their fourth anniversary together, Steven planned a jeep trip to the Rubicon Trail in Nevada. This trail had always been a dream of his and he wanted to share this big memory with Alyssa. Half way through the trail, the group decided to take a break at a breathtaking lake and "go for a walk". When Alyssa and Steven stopped to pose for a picture, Steven got down on one knee and popped the question! The couple had a celebratory dinner at camp and left the trail with many new stories, and a big rock on Alyssa's hand.
From the beginning, Steven and Alyssa have mastered communication. Being long distance for three years, communication via calls or facetime was their main way of showing they loved one another. Intimacy was achieved by sharing embarrassing stories or confessing self-doubts or insecurities. Words of affirmation became a key foundation in their relationship and they continue to build each other up to this day. Alyssa receives love from Steven in acts of service and quality time. Whereas Steven receives love with touch and quality time, enjoying the fun activities they get to do together like jeeping and dirtbiking. Alyssa's quality time tends to be more of keeping Steven to herself or taking him on random dates.
