On Saturday, March 24, 2018 it was a cloudy and chilly day in Galveston, TX. A few weeks prior, James convinced Sarah, with the help of their friend Lindsay Plum, that she needed to step away from her busy work schedule and spend a day at the beach. However, Sarah was sick the week of the planned beach day, and James was unsure if their day trip would need to be canceled. Fortunately, Sarah began to feel better that Saturday, so they loaded the car and headed to Galveston. On their way down to the beach, Sarah was a little confused as to why James didn’t stop to get them donuts as he normally did. Little did she know that James was on a tight schedule! Finally, they arrive at James’ parents' condo east of Stewart Beach. Sarah notices Mr. and Mrs. Amyx are dressed quite nice for a normal beach day, but she doesn’t think anything of it. James tried to convince Sarah to take a walk with him and Maggie, but she was reluctant at first due to the blustery weather conditions. Finally, she decides to go. Once they are on the beach James found a great spot to play fetch with Maggie and finds “Maggie’s ball” in his beach bag, but instead of pulling out a ball, James pulls out a ring box! After James' very eloquent proposal (which he could barely get out because he was so cold and nervous), Sarah said“YES!” But . . . the story doesn’t end there! James told Sarah that he had a brunch planned on the condo's terrace and his parents had headed home. Sarah was concerned that they wouldn’t be able to celebrate with his parents and was a little confused. As they walked through the doors of the condo's terrace, they hear "SURPRISE!" James was able to gather their parents, her sisters and brother from Lubbock, Clear Lake, and Nacogdoches, and their best friends from Houston and Dallas for a surprise engagement party! It was an unforgettable day at the beach! Sarah and James cannot wait to celebrate their new lives with their family and friends on July 20, 2019! #AlmostAmyx
