We officially met in the kitchen of our dorm hall the first week into September 2017, while I was baking and he was doing laundry.

As time passed, we bonded over her Zumba class and built a friendship I pray never ends.

Xavier says we met when I came with him to pick Almeta up from the train station.

But we started hanging out in Junior High School. We used to always talk on the phone and we would have deep conversations about individuals who need to get it together. Sat together at lunchtime and laughed it up. What was great about our friendship is that we're good at analyzing stuff. That's one of the things that created that bond. Xavier on the other hand is a different story. I only met him a couple of times. But before that, I saw him on Almeta's snapchat stories for years. I was like "Well well well! What do we have here?". One thing that I can say about Xavier is that I get a nice positive vibe from him. He definitely has a good spirit and energy. I approve!

From the start her warmth, loyalty and easygoing personality stood out, and what began as quick chats during breaks soon turned into real conversations and after-work hangouts. Over time our connection grew from coworkers to a beautiful friendship, and I feel lucky to have shared so many laughs and milestones with her along the way. She's an amazing supportive friend I appreciate having. Through Almeta, I had the joy of meeting Xavier—aka Pikachu— the kindest spirit I was able to meet. Watching the way Almeta and Xavier support and light each other up has been inspiring, and I’m honored to celebrate this new chapter of their love story. My uncle Alex found me my perfect dad and arranged for me to come to New York all the way from Georgia. I was adopted at 2 years old and met my mom the next day. If it weren't for them, Georgia would have put me to sleep because they couldn't find me a home. Now I have touched the hearts of my grandparents, even the ones who didn't like big dogs
