Alex and Megan first laid eyes on each other at their first job out of college. The two were on separate training paths trying to navigate a new job and home. They found themselves at a colleague's housewarming party one evening, where Alex asked Megan how her training was going. Megan had no idea how Alex knew her name, and was still a bit confused about who Alex was. Weeks passed, and Alex would smile "good morning" as he passed her meeting room on the way to his. One night, they recognized each other at another party as they were playing cards. As the night went on, a group decided to go to bars in downtown Manassas, including Alex and Megan. They learned they both lived in old town! At an old pub in Manassas, Alex started up conversation with Megan. The connection between them was immediate. Alex was the first colleague Megan felt she could truly talk to, much to her surprise. They talked like old friends who hadn't seen each other in a long time. With a little liquid courage, Megan held his hand. That night, they shared their first kiss in her apartment lobby, March 1st 2020. The next day, Alex asked Megan out to dinner, to which she went following a nudge from her mom. Alex started leaving Dunkin coffee on Megan's desk before she got to work, with the occasional sticky note "Don't be stressed :)". He was so sweet to her but she resisted an official relationship with him out of fear of moving too fast from her past. They shared emotional conversations in a Chic Fil A parking lot, and shed tears from deciding it might be best to be friends. There was still a pull between them they couldn't deny, and Megan finally decided to take the plunge and ask Alex to be her boyfriend on May 17, 2020. Alex shared the first "I love you" just a few weeks later and the two became closer and closer through quarantine. Just two months later, Alex bought a home and they decided to move in together. Somehow, they both knew in such a short period that the other was "the one" <3

On February 14 2021, the two were awoken by their doorbell. It was a neighbor who generously gave them a box of valentines day donuts and iced coffee (well - a delivery driver accidentally gave it to our house, but she let us keep it!). The vibe of the day was already great! That night, Alex took Megan out to dinner at AMBAR in Arlington, VA. While they were gone, Alex coordinated with Megan's parents to drop off an Italian Greyhound puppy he had gotten the week before, with an engagement ring tied to his collar. When the two were pulling into their house, Alex spotted Megan's dad bolting out the door trying to be discreet. Megan didn't notice anyway. She was shocked to walk inside to a puppy that she didn't even notice a box tied to his collar. As she opened the box, Alex got down on one knee and proposed. She gave a resounding yes and nearly fainted from all the surprises at once!
