Alma and Munyaradzi (Munya) met in January 2022 on the dating app, Bumble (yes, they made it off the app!) After an initial facetime date, their official first date was at Ossobucco Ristorante on January 29 in Washington DC. That following week, they went on two more dates, including to the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art, where Munya made a point of showing Alma his favorite portrait in the museum, Claude Monet’s ‘The Japanese Footbridge’. After several months of dating, Alma and Munya made their relationship official on June 11, 2022.

On January 29, 2024, Munya planned a date night, celebrating the 2nd anniversary of their first date. He took Alma to the restaurant they went to on their first date, requesting that they sit at the same table they sat at two years before. After dinner, they went back to Munya's place, where he had prepared a picnic blanket with roses, dessert, a pen and paper. Munya asked that they sit down and write a note to one another sharing how they feel after two years together. Alma read her letter first and then Munya read his. Alma still was not fully aware that he was preparing to propose. Munya then got on one knee, asking Alma to marry him. Alma will tell you she didn't hear much after he got on his knee because she began crying with excitement and joy! After pulling herself together, she accepted his proposal and they were officially engaged!
