After being laid off in 2020 due to a pandemic, Ally started working at a local bakery. That bakery (called Ville Velo, see the "Things To Do" page) was frequented by Austin. The bakery owner, Jeffrey, quickly realized the two were made for each other and decided to set them up.

In June 2023 Austin took Ally to Depoe Bay, Oregon, one of the best spots to go whale watching for Gray Whales off the Oregon coast. He booked an AirBnB right on the cliffs above the bay where they could sip champagne and watch whales breaching from the comfort of their hot tub. On Saturday he took her whale watching and trail running, then had dinner in nearby Newport Bay, OR. At sunset they found themselves on the beach where Austin got down on one knee... and in the excitement so did Ally! Laughter and a resounding YES ensued.
