Allyson: So we met at work which you ALWAYS want to stay away from! Of course we immediately hit it off too which is the worst. He was cute, smart, funny and liked baseball, I mean hes a METS fan but I could get over that. With all of my sensibility and one bridesmaid (cough Sarah) telling me it was a bad idea, I naturally accepted his invite to go on a date. An Ugly Christmas Sweater Party with a bunch of people I don't know, cool. I had a hard time picking a sweater. I wanted to look cute since it was a first date and all but I also wanted his friends to like me so an ugly sweater was a must. He picked me up and we were off. My nerves at an all time high as I held the tray of chocolate dipped pretzels. If you thought I'd show up to a party empty handed then you've never met my mother. We knock on the door, my heart pounding and .... Silly Mike - This was NOT an ugly sweater party. Classic Mike. I was less mortified after a drink and realized it was the best ice breaker in history. So Yeah, we met at work - turns out it was worth it <3 Mike: A positive to dating a co-worker is that you get to know that person first, before the dating begins. I was able to learn the kind of person she is and what her interests are from being a front running Yankees fan to a marvelous baker and everything else in-between. We had an instant connection. I decided to see if she wanted to go to an ugly sweater Christmas party with me and she agreed. If you know Allyson, you know she brought along some baked goods. We arrive at the party and to my surprise nobody is wearing an ugly sweater! The only logical conclusion is that everyone at the party forgot it was an ugly sweater party. It was definitely a good ice breaker and something we will never forget. I still can't believe they all forgot it was an ugly sweater party.....
Mike: We had planned a trip to go to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and Zion National Park. I thought this would be the perfect time to purpose. So I bought the ring well in advance of this trip. We had planned out some of the hikes we wanted to do at each park and some other stops along the way, we drove from the Grand Canyon to Zion. When I saw the views from Angel's Landing I knew that was the perfect place to propose. I did have a backup in mind, the Emerald Pools, that day just incase it didn't happen at Angel's Landing. We arrived at the summit and ate our snacks and found a spot that was a less crowded. I waited for the family that was there to leave before suggesting we get a picture of us looking out over the land. I suggested I use my phone and the self timer. I instead set it up to video tape and while Allyson was looking away I walked over, kneeled down, and asked her to marry me. It was one of the easiest decisions I have ever made. I also knew she would say yes :) Allyson: Hello Bucket List trip! camping in the Grand Canyon, Hiking the Narrows at Zion? Yes please. I counted down the days for this. Each trip with Mike gets better than the last. We have adventures and we share experiences and memories. I wish there was a thought in my head that said "maybe he will propose". Instead the thoughts in my head were "Should we buy camping gear there or check a body bag with our tent?" The hike to the top of Angels Landing is no joke. The view of the switch backs is far better then the task itself. Once we hit the top It was time for food! We stopped for snacks and to take in the view. The stars aligned and for a brief moment we were the only ones on the cliff. Mike was setting up the camera for a picture, I was looking out at the view thinking "this is perfect". Until I turned and saw Mike on his knee. Pure shock. Pure happiness. THIS is Perfect. I cried, said yes and thanked god i didnt fall back off the cliff Best Day Ever
