Warm Springs Pools
Located just five miles from the resort, the Warm Springs Pools are among the oldest spa structures in the U.S., with roots dating back to 1761. These naturally warm, mineral-rich springs have been used for over 9,000 years, first by Native Americans and later by early settlers including Thomas Jefferson. The Gentlemen’s and Ladies’ Bathhouses, built in the 1820s and 1870s, have been beautifully restored to preserve their original character. The soothing 98–99°F waters flow at 1.7 million gallons per day and are so clear you can read a book through them.
Troddenvale Cidery at the North Stable
Experience Virginia terroir through transparency-driven cider at Troddenvale. Crafted with minimal intervention, each bottle reflects the land, fruit, and character of their Highland County home. Visit the historic North Stable for tastings, glasses, or bottles of their signature ciders, along with curated wines and local snacks (including cheese).
Cascades Gorge Hike
A must-do at The Omni Homestead! This guided 1.8-mile hike winds through a breathtaking Allegheny Mountain gorge with 13 cascading waterfalls. A naturalist will lead the way, sharing insights on the region’s unique flora, fauna, and the medicinal or edible properties of local plants. To protect the area, self-guided hikes are not permitted. This trail is accessible only via a guided tour or with a Homestead fly fishing guide.
Virginia Wine Experience
Discover the rich history and vibrant flavors of Virginia wine at The Omni Homestead’s Virginia Wine Experience. Located near the resort’s Dining Room, this unique tasting parlor celebrates wines exclusively from the Commonwealth dating back to Jamestown in 1607. Enjoy curated wine flights (five wines per flight), wines by the glass, and special monthly features from top Virginia wineries. Meet vintners, attend tastings, or join exclusive dinners paired with limited-release wines.
The Old Course at The Omni Homestead
A true American golf landmark, the Old Course was completed in 1892 and features the nation’s oldest first tee still in continuous use. With updates by famed architects William S. Flynn and Rees Jones, this 6,099-yard course features a unique layout of six par 3s, six par 4s, and six par 5s, offering a fun and balanced round for golfers of all levels. Recognized in Golfweek’s Best Resort Courses (2024) and Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses, the Old Course is a must-play for golf enthusiasts. Historic and scenic layout. The Cascades Golf Course
Consistently ranked among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses and Golfweek’s Best Resort Courses (2024), The Cascades is one of the nation’s premier mountain golf experiences. Designed by William S. Flynn and set against the stunning Allegheny Mountains, the course offers strategic, challenging play across dramatic terrain. Homestead Sporting Clays and Shooting Club
With roots dating back to 1933, The Omni Homestead’s historic Gun Club offers an unforgettable experience for beginners and seasoned shooters alike. Explore nearly a mile of wooded courses simulating various game birds and rabbits, with guidance from certified N.S.C.A. instructors. Two sporting clays courses (weather permitting). Four skeet fields, trap & five-stand options.
Fly Fishing on the Cascades Stream
Enjoy a fly fishing experience to remember on the private, scenic waters of the Cascades Stream which is home to stocked and wild rainbow trout. This catch-and-release, Orvis-endorsed fishery is ideal for all skill levels. Guided 2-hour, half-day, or full-day trips. Includes gear, stream permit, and expert guide. Seasonal options also available on the Upper & Lower Jackson Rivers.
Hiking and Biking
The Omni Homestead Resort & Spa is located in one of the country’s most scenic settings. Whether you prefer to hike or bike on our miles of trails, you’ll find breathtaking views all around. Historic Tour of the Homestead
The Omni Homestead Resort & Spa has been around for more than two centuries. They opened their doors 10 years before the Declaration of Independence was signed and have seen many presidents, royalty and families come through our doors.
