Some love stories begin with fireworks. Ours began in the hallways of Corner Lake Middle School. John and Allyson shared the same group of friends and knew of each other, but back then, they barely spoke. Fast forward to high school, and their paths crossed again. They still shared the same friends, but now the two could call each other friends — a somewhat flirty friendship, built on jokes, glances, and that unspoken something that followed them from class to class. If you know John, you know he was the friendly guy… the one who was, let’s just say, “well liked.” Allyson, however, didn’t give him much of that extra attention everyone else did — and that seemed to only intrigue him more. In their quiet way, they both felt a connection, even if neither of them said it out loud. When John left for college, he handed Allyson a small but meaningful gift — something special to him — and told her to hold onto it so she would always remember him. He even joked that one day, they’d get married. Allyson laughed it off, chalking it up to John being his usual playful self, but she kept the gift all these years. Life carried them in different directions, with the occasional check-in here and there. Until one day — March 24, 2017 — Allyson decided to wish him a simple “Happy Birthday.” John responded with his signature flirtatious charm, but this time, Allyson didn’t quite brush it off. They ended up texting through the night, finally acknowledging the strange, familiar pull they’d always felt. By the end of that conversation, they both wondered: What if this connection actually means something? A couple of days later, they met up… and everything clicked. Instantly. Effortlessly. And beautifully. From that day on, they’ve been inseparable. At the time, Allyson was a mom to her soon to be 4-year-old daughter, Aria. After meeting John, Aria fell for him just as quickly — and their little trio soon became a family. Over the last eight years, that family has grown even more, blessing them with two more beautiful daughters, Avaya (5) and Eliana (2). What started as a middle-school acquaintance turned into a high-school spark… then a lifelong love neither of them saw coming -- but both of them were always meant to find. And now, all these years later, with three little girls and a lifetime of memories, they can finally say: He was right. They really were meant to get married one day.
