Mountain biking trails
Trail dogs is our favorite trail in Fernie. It is a blue flow trail and fun for everyone! Closer to Island Lake Lodge, you can take Lazy Lizard for an easy green trail, or Project 9 for a more difficult trail. Reach out for Tony if you want any more trail advice. There are also a couple local bike shops that do rentals, but I recommend booking this early as they do book up.
Hiking
There are several great hikes from Island Lake Lodge. Lake Loop trail is a lovely short loop around the lake. Our favorite more difficult hikes include Goldilocks and Mount Baldy. You can find routes on Trailforks, or on the brochure at the lodge.
Fernie Brewing Company
Our favorite beers here are Project 9 and the LOGO NA beers.
Fly Fishing
There is Fly Fishing on Elk River in Fernie. Elk River guiding company has guided trips.
Glacier National Park
If you flying into Kalispell, you'll be able to spend some time in Glacier National Park before or after the wedding. Car reservations are not required for 2026 (see the link for more details). Reach out to Ally if you want recommendations for hikes and best areas of the park to go to.
Brash Rodeo - Columbia Falls
There is a Thursday night Rodeo in Columbia Falls every Thursday in the summer. We highly recommend this if you are flying into Kalispell!
