How We Started Dating

04.11.21

We met each other in college through mutual friends, but never really got close and had a bit of a gap in communication until Ally got hired at Downtown Community Church right after she graduated, the very place where Dylan had been working for the past year (big HR problem). Neither of us were quite interested in the other, and Ally was even once quoted saying, "Yeah, I'll just never really be friends with Dylan..." Well, as we became acclimated to each other through a shared group of friends, it became clear that we were both falling for each other at the same time. The first chapter of our story was paved with a plethora of "You too?" moments, laughs, and an increasing desire to see each other. After a pastoral blessing, I (Dylan) took that lil lady out for spaghetti and the rest is history!

The Proposal

06.05.23

After being away for the weekend at a frat brother's wedding in Boston, Dylan decided the best way to surprise Ally would be to propose the same day he got back from Boston. She'd never see it coming! After a full day of traveling, the time came to go on a date that had been planned the day of. And I (Ally), was late leaving work, almost didn't wear any makeup, and for some reason decided to wear a dress to dinner even though the only direction I was given was that I should wear "church clothes." As we chugged down the road, I (Dylan) was just trying to keep from having to talk because my head was swimmier than a salmon headed upstream. Our good friends Jay and Nate dropped a sign from an overpass that read "Ally will you marry me?" at the exact right time, all while braving the speeding semi-trucks zipping by! And I (Ally) was so stunned when I saw the sign that I sat motionless in the truck, it wasn't until Dylan invited me out of the truck that he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. I was honestly too stunned to speak and completely in shock that he had totally surprised me (without even the slightest hint) which is shocking considering 200 people had known at this point that I was getting engaged today!! (I couldn't stop telling people, but hey they all kept a good secret -Dylan). After we met at the back of that ol' pickup truck and Dylan asked for Ally's hand, we headed over to William Colle's house where a whole party of friends were waiting to celebrate! We laughed, ate, and eventually, all jumped in the pool! Best Day Ever!

For all the days along the way
