Our love story starts in 2016 at Umass Memorial Medical Center. Ally was in her first year of nursing in the ER, following in her mother’s footsteps. Chris was a police sergeant working for the University and surrounding campus. The police patrolled the ER frequently and assisted with unruly patients. They had crossed paths multiple times, shooting smiles in eachother’s direction but never really making conversation. Ally made the first move. She nonchallantly followed Chris in to the nourishment room one day and told him she had a story to tell him. Ally told Chris that one of her patients complained her stay was too long and wouldn’t have been so bad if the police officers around here were better looking. I told her, “Oh, just wait until you see their sergeant!” Chris smirked and said, “Oh really?” Ally smiled and went back to work. Chris got the flirty hint after that. Chris would go over to where Ally was working often and start random conversation. Conversation flowed so easily though Ally was very nervous at first! Chris then found Ally on instagram and had been messaging her. One night as they were saying goodnight, Chris suggested that if Ally ever wanted to talk more that she should text him. Chris then gave Ally his phone number. Ally shortly after texted him and playfully asked, “Is this how guys ask for girl’s numbers these days?” Things progressed very quickly from there. Just two months later, Chris asked Ally if she had a passport. Chris took Ally as his plus one to his best friend’s wedding in St. Lucia! On the plane to St. Lucia Ally dropped the question, “So... are you going to introduce me to your friends as your girlfriend?” Chris responded with the very familair phrase, “Depends on your behavior”. Smitten and smiling Ally took that as a yes.
... Flash forward to December 23, 2018. It was Chris’s birthday and Ally had planned to take him to Boston for dinner with friends. Little did Ally know, after Chris asked questions for weeks and Ally dropped subtle hints, Chris was able to find out where they were going. What Ally also didn’t know, is that Chris had designed a special ring, with his grandmother’s diamond, over the previous few months. In the Prudential Center, above all of Boston, Chris received the best birthday present he could ever have, when Ally said yes.
