Ally and Andrew met when their first jobs after college brought them to the same genetic testing laboratory in Maryland. They quickly bonded over concerts, backpacking trips, and exploring their new home.
Over a volunteering session with Crisis Text Line, they expressed their feelings for each other and started dating.
After just 5 months of dating, and Ally and Andrew decided to quarantine through the COVID-19 pandemic together. This strengthened their communication skills, boundary setting, and relationship overall.
Ally and Andrew received exciting yet difficult news: they had matched to genetic counseling graduate programs - in San Francisco and Boston. This took them on their first cross-country move together, stopping for adventures in Tennessee, Colorado, and Utah.
Following graduate school, they embarked on their second cross country move, this time to Colorado when Ally started a genetic counseling fellowship. They supported each other through the genetic counseling board exam, job searching, imposter syndrome, and celebrating all their wins.
Once life began to calm down again, they welcomed their newest fur baby, Goose. They both agree that there is no one else they would rather co-parent a alligator-adjacent cattle dog with.
With Goose in tow, Andrew surprised a completely oblivious Ally on a hike with a ring and a promise of continuing commitment and love!
