That Saturday morning, Reid flew us down to St. Simons Island just after sunrise, determined to make the trip happen despite a stormy forecast. Watching the sun come up from the plane window made the early wake-up call worth it, even as rain showers followed us once we landed. After a day of dodging storms, we decided to take a walk on the beach before dinner. As we wandered along the shoreline, we passed a family cheering for a couple who had just gotten engaged. Allison teased Reid, saying that if he had the ring, that could have been us.
