If you have extra time during the weekend, we highly recommend taking a short trip to Dahlonega. This charming North Georgia mountain town is known for its beautiful scenery, historic square, and incredible local wineries. The Dahlonega Plateau is home to many vineyards and tasting rooms, making it a great spot to spend an afternoon wine tasting while enjoying the mountain views. Our personal favorite is Montaluce Winery, which has stunning views, great wine, and a beautiful Tuscan-inspired setting that makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Italy. Dahlonega also has cute shops, restaurants, and a relaxed small-town feel that makes it well worth the visit.

Downtown Gainesville GA

Downtown Gainesville GA

400 Jesse Jewell Parkway, Gainesville, GA 30501

Downtown Gainesville, Georgia has a way of slowing you down in the best possible way. It’s the kind of place where you can park once, spend the afternoon on foot, and let the day unfold as you go. The square is lined with a mix of historic charm and energy, making it perfect for an easy, walkable outing. Start with a stroll through the heart of downtown, popping into local shops and soaking in the small-town feel. When you’re ready for a break, Standard Service is our go-to for lunch. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and consistently good. The kind of spot where you can sit for a while, enjoy a great meal, and being outside. From there, it’s an easy walk over to Tap It, our favorite local brewery. It’s the perfect place to grab a drink, sit outside on the rooftop. If you’re staying into the evening, make your way to Boot Barn Hall, our favorite music venue in town. It adds a fun, lively energy to the night, especially on Friday the 28th of August. You’ll catch a Jimmy Buffett cover band!

The Avalon Alpharetta GA

The Avalon Alpharetta GA

2200 Avalon Boulevard, Alpharetta, GA 30009

Avalon is one of those places that feels polished and easy to enjoy. It’s perfect for a day where you want everything in one spot—great food, a little shopping, and a walkable atmosphere that makes you want to explore. For lunch, Marlow’s Tavern is always our go-to. It’s reliable, upbeat, and has something for everyone. It’s the kind of place where you can sit on the patio, order something you know will be good (tempura Asparagus), and ease into the day. Spend some time walking around after by popping into a few shops, grabbing a coffee, or just enjoy the atmosphere. When evening rolls around, Colletta is our favorite spot for Italian dinner. It has a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels just a step above casual, making it perfect for a date night or a nicer night out. The food is consistently great!
