Our ceremony location was a covered picnic area in a large field near the Potomac River. We had hoped our friends and family would enjoy the large field, take a stroll, find a picnic spot, toss a frisbee, hike the nearby Billy Goat Trail, kayak through the river gorge or climb the gorge walls and join us for a ceremony and meal. Instead, we two packed a bike trailer, rode 12 miles to our location with cancelled-reservation-due-to-COVID, set a table with flowers, cooked a Ciaopino seafood stew over a Coleman camping stove, were caught in a thunderstorm during pre-ceremony meditation, carefully avoided puddles as we changed into wedding clothes, exchanged vows in a light rain, and ate alongside hikers sheltering from the storm.
