This trail connects from our venue along the river into the town of historic Marietta where there are some fun bars and restaurants.
The venue is right along the river. You can kayak but be safe!
Scenic views overlooking the river and an 18 hole course.
If you want to enjoy the water and learn a little history, hop aboard the Chief Uncas! Built in 1912 for beer tycoon Adolphus Busch, this electric-powered launch cruised Otsego Lake, the headwaters of the Susquehanna, for over a century. Today the Chief Uncas cruises the Susquehanna 400 miles downstream as the flagship for SNHA’s River Discovery Tours.
We love the little town of Marietta for its beautiful old homes, proximity to river (and trail that leads to our venue in Columbia), and great bars and restaurants. We especially love Shanks Tavern, Molly's Courtyard Cafe, McCleary's Public House, River Trail Brewing, and more.
Sitting nearly 30 feet above the riverbank, the cliffs offer grand views of the Susquehanna River. They are not a natural occurrence, but are actually composed of the byproduct from a limestone and dolomite quarry that opened in the mid-1800s. Across from the cliffs, on the other side of the train tracks, are the ruins of the limestone factory and remnants of the Billmyer ghost town. Nature has now taken back what was once a thriving company town. 3 miles out and back hike leaving from Koser Park.
