The video above is Jonathan proposing at the beach. The clip at the end is us making the announcement to everyone that we just got engaged! Make sure to turn up the volume for that part ;)
Allison: Jonathan proposed on May 10th at the RUF end of year beach trip. He had told me that we were just "taking pictures on the beach." We were with two of our close friends and when it was Jonathan and I's turn to take our picture together, he got down on one knee and totally surprised me! We had discussed getting engaged in the summertime, but this trip was the week after the school semester ended. I did not suspect that he would propose SO early into the summer. I guess he just couldn't wait :) It was also really sweet to have all of our friends there and we had a little engagement party to celebrate afterwards. Edisto will forever be a special place for us! Jonathan: I had to get everyone out of the beach house, so I forced everyone to go out to dinner and then framed it like we were having a "stay in double date" with some friends. I had enlisted the help of two of our good friends to organize and carry out the mission. However, I was truly convinced that Allison had picked up on the fact that I would propose on the trip. The Lord provided, and we were able to get everyone out of the house. Then, the double-date commenced. After dinner, we were able to enjoy pictures with a beautiful sunset and an ideal time and place to propose. The Lord also provided the blissful ignorance for Allison that somehow I did not blow the surprise. Thankfully, she also said yes!
We met through Erskine College at the campus ministry called RUF and we became good friends pretty quickly. We became closer through ultimate frisbee pick up games that we organized together. We also both made efforts to study in public areas in hopes that we would "just so happen" to run into each other. Jonathan asked Allison out on November 4th 2022 and she agreed to a first date at Red Lobster. A week later, we met for a 2nd date, and we both felt God was drawing us together. We made it official and the Lord has graciously grown our love for one another every day since, in spite of our many shortcomings. The rest is history!
