Sure are! Since July 26, 2023! The story goes: After having done some preliminary wedding planning, a whole ceremony/reception was not going to be feasible until 2026 for a couple of reasons. Namely, James' upcoming year in his Ph.D. program was arguably going to be the most demanding (comprehensive exams) and we weren't going to have the time to do the planning. Then Allison got a job opportunity that was incredible for her career but said opportunity was in Bethesda, MD for 3-4 months. It didn't make much financial or practical sense to wait three years to be married. So, they took a trip to Chicago's Marriage Court, on Allison's lunch break nonetheless. After 30 minutes of waiting in a humid, non-air conditioned basement, we signed the papers and went back to work!
Shooting for 2026! Pending lots of factors, but we're hoping to have an intimate ceremony and dinner to follow. However, no details will be worked on until the completion of James' comprehensive exams (when he goes from Ph.D. student to Ph.D. candidate, woohoo!) in Spring 2025.
