Madison Farmer's Market
Saturdays on the Square is a great way to spend Saturday morning in Madison! The farmers’ market around the Capitol Building is ripe with local fruits, veggies, flowers, cheeses, bakery items, and more! Don’t miss the famous Stella’s stand to get your spicy cheese bread, a Madison staple.
Olbrich Botanical Gardens
A beautiful way to spend some time in Madison! 16 acres of gardens and a wonderful conservatory. Make sure to check out the Thai Pavilion!
Henry Vilas Zoo
The Henry Vilas Zoo is an amazing free zoo in Madison. The zoo has both Allison’s favorite animal (capybaras) and Haonan’s (red pandas). The capybaras are named Peru and Morrison and the red pandas are Betty and Bandit.
Memorial Union Terrace
Enjoy beer and food at the Memorial Union Terrace - two buildings away from Allison’s office (and where she and her coworkers often eat lunch in the summertime). The iconic sunburst chairs and the lake view are a classic Madison scene.
State Street - Downtown Madison
Lots of great stores, restaurants, and bars on this pedestrian street at the heart of downtown Madison.
