A personal favorite close to my heart, this craft brewery is where I had my first legal beer. I mean...my first beer. Order the Clever Girl IPA and enjoy their selection of card games.
Neslted in the beautiful neighborhood of Carytown, this is my favorite spot for greasy diner fare and deliciously chocolatey shakes. Come for the far-out space themed decor, stay for cheaply priced drafts of PBR - AKA Peoples' Beer of Richmond.
Your next stop in Carytown should be this iconic record store, where I used to browse the stacks of vinyls containing the soundtracks of my teen angst - even though I couldn't afford to buy them.
Round out your Carytown visit with a stop at this sweet shop featuring confections from around the globe. I never leave without spending at least $30 on candy, but it's oh so worth it.
Stroll the museum district and immerse yourself in the history of the sometimes-great state of Virginia. Hint: there's a lot of it.
It was impossible to not fill this list up with craft breweries, it is what Richmond is known for after all! Väsen is another spot close to my heart that I helped promote during my first internship in the city for their opening, and their taproom is spectacular. Steeped in Nordic culture and offering exceptional brews, this is a stop you have to make while visiting the Scott's Addition neighborhood. I'd add more breweries in this area but the list would be 10 pages long, so just explore on your own - you'll find some gems!
Looking for a day in the sun? Hop the rocks on the river and lay out for a picnic. Make sure the rapid levels aren't too high before your visit - we wouldn't want you to get swept away!
You've gotta try some southern cooking during your visit - and you've gotta do it here. Try the catfish.
Go here for brunch if you like spicy food. Get the bacon bloody mary. Thank me later.
