Desmond's first vacation to Colorado Springs was marked by a visit to this beautiful zoo! This is a nationally top ranking zoo, which provides scenic views and family fun. On warm days, there can be a good amount of sun, so please bring sunscreen, water and hats if you are not acclimated to the altitude. The Giraffe exhibit is Desmond's favorite!
Pikes Peak offers a cog railway all the up to the top of Pikes Peak. If the cog railway is not your thing, you can also drive up the mountain to see the sights (rsvp may be needed) or take one of the many tour buses and get a cake donut at the new visitor center!
This is an amazing tourist attraction to visit while in the Springs. This park is free, and allows you to drive or walk through. Garden of the Gods offers flatter walkways to see the beautiful rock formations. The best place to get ice cream in the Springs is in the Trading Post, which is located within the Park.
The Manitou Incline, which has 2,700 steps, is used by Olypmians for training. It now requires reservations and is a great "to do" for any individual looking for a fun challenge. Once at the top, you must now take the trail down instead of going down the stairs. Allison has been trying to force Desmond to do this with her, and he has managed to get out of it so far...
Customize your fun based on your group, adventure level and how much time you have to explore. When you visit Cave of the Winds Mountain Park, you’ll discover adventure above and below ground! First, choose a cave tour, then add the Pioneer Package for above-ground fun. Mild to wild, there’s plenty to choose from for all members of your family. We haven't ventured into the cave, but we have visited and enjoyed the spectacular views. Has a pretty cool kids outdoor area.

In busy Old Colorado City, galleries and quaint gift stores cluster alongside jewelers, candy shops, and tattoo parlors in 19th-century brick buildings along Colorado Avenue. Dining options range from American eateries to Italian trattorias and Greek tavernas. The Old Colorado City History Center Museum has exhibits on early pioneer settlement, and Simpich Showcase features puppet productions and a folk doll museum.

North Cheyenne Cañon Park or North Cheyenne Canyon Park is a regional park located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is a National Register of Historic Places listing. It was also called Colorado College Park and Cheyenne Park. We took cousin Katie on one of these trails during her visit.
The Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center is a fossil museum primarily exhibiting fossil organisms of North America's Late Cretaceous including dinosaurs, pterosaurs, marine reptiles, and fish. The museum includes a fossil preparation lab and a large gift shop. We have not visited, but have heard for the size it was a good museum visit.
Neither Desmond or Allison have had a chance to visit the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, and have heard mixed reviews. This location may be the most interesting to families with children but if your stay has allotted you enough time, definitely consider checking out this "to do"!
