The Wedding Website of Allison Markus and Dawn Rains
Hey, out-of-town friends! Here are our recs for where to hang your hat while you are in town. On Friday, we are hosting a casual welcome dinner for our out-of-town guests. Check out our slice of heaven, meet the pups and break in our new pizza oven. We recommend coming over mid-day to explore the island in order to avoid summer ferry back ups! We’ll let you know the boat schedule as we get closer. Plan on a 45 min drive from Redmond or 20 min from downtown to get to the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal; a 15 min ferry ride; and then a 15 min drive to the house. We promise it will be worth it! On Saturday night, Seattle hosts its annual Seafair Torchlight Parade which attracts 300,000 people to downtown--sorry! We've suggested a few outside-of-downtown options. Or, you could do Thursday/Friday in Seattle, and Saturday/Sunday in Redmond (the location of the wedding.) Redmond is 25-30 minutes to downtown Seattle across the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, the longest in the world.

Flight

Alaska Airlines

We LOVE our hometown airline, Alaska Airlines. Just sayin'.

Hotel

Hotel Sorrento

900 Madison Street, Seattle, WA 98104
 (206) 622-6400

Old school opulence all the way. With ample reading chairs and little nooks for relaxing over a cocktail, this storied Seattle lobby is a charmer while the restaurant, Stella, embodies the hotel's coastal Italian theme. While each room or suite has its own distinct appeal, they all reflect the elegance of the grand hotel in Sorrento, Italy that inspired its design. Reasonably priced for this level of luxury.

Hotel

Pan Pacific Seattle

2125 Terry Avenue, Seattle, WA 98121
 (206) 264-8111

This is one of our favorites. Zen design and a South Lake Union location—far enough from downtown to avoid the mayhem, still close to tons of great restaurants and cultural hotspots—make this lovely hotel, the only Pan Pacific in the U.S., an appealing and surprisingly affordable option if you're seeking a combination of luxury and convenience.

Hotel

Astra Hotel Seattle

300 Terry Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109
 (206) 693-6000

A new upscale boutique hotel in South Lake Union, the Astra features sleek and modern guest rooms, distinctive dining, the rooftop bar ALTITUDE, and the excellent Ladro Coffee in the lobby.

Hotel

citizenM Seattle South Lake Union hotel

201 Westlake Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109
 (206) 336-3525

The rooms are minimalist (read: tiny but cozy) but modern and comfortable, designed for someone planning to spend their time exploring the city, or meeting friends in the lively lobby of this central hotel, which feels cool and interesting. The tiny rooms pack in surprising features: enormous beds, strong showers, and blackout blinds. And affordable!

Hotel

Graduate Hotel

4507 Brooklyn Avenue Northeast, Seattle, WA 98105
 (206) 634-2000

Rooftop bars are a rarity in Seattle, and perched high in the University District where few other buildings match it's height, the Graduate shows off some of the city's best views. The cocktail menu comes from top bartenders and the usual dinner menu gets the occasional boost from hot local pop-ups, bringing in the food lovers from all over town.
