As many stories begin, Brett and Allison met on a dating app. They immediately connected while messaging, and scheduled their first date. It was a hot, summer day. Brett met Allison at a local park and walked and talked for hours. By the end of it, Allison was dying of the heat, while Brett was still cool as a cucumber. Their date continued at an ice cream shop (duh), listening to live music and dinner. Eight hours later, the pair finally went their separate ways. The rest, as they say, was history...
I immediately connected to Brett's calm presence. We could talk about work, life, family, just anything. Brett is the calm to my storm. He brings me back down to earth when I need it and reminds me to always bring my mind back to the Word. Favorite Dates (in no particular order): 1. Putt putt and arcade games- While Brett won at putt-putt, I kicked his butt in air hockey. Laughing with him is natural and my favorite thing to do. 2. Pottery-making class- I love supporting my community and doing new things. Learning how to throw pottery on a wheel was a blast! Brett was surprisingly good at this, probably due to his love of chaos and just figuring it out. 3. Sippin' Safari- Childless viewing at the Zoo Atlanta. Five stars, highly recommend it! Brett and I were able to walk around the zoo, seeing our favorite animals, with limited interruptions. Man, this was a blast. 4. Literally anything with my family- Goodness gracious, Brett is adorable with my family. The girls love him so much and he has replaced me as the favorite. He jumped right in (quite literally a bounce house) and played with each one, earning a thumbs up in their minds.
All my life, I have been searching for something, and I don't think that I ever really knew what that was, until I met Allison. From the moment that we met, there was an immediate connection that even I didn't understand. Our first few dates lasted hours (which to me only seemed like minutes) but they were full of sharing crazy work stories, laughs, and of course Allison's favorite, chicken nuggets. There are so many things that I love about Allison, and one of my favorites is the fact that she always keeps me guessing. I have always been drawn to a little bit of chaos in my life, hence my job, and the woman I love is no different. At first, I thought, well, she's pretty easy, chicken nuggets and a nap and she's the happiest woman in the world... but just when I think that I have her figured out, she throws me for a loop, and I love her even more because of it. Another thing that I love about her is her heart for people. She is always thinking about others before herself. She might be the biggest introvert on the planet Earth, but she is willing(ish) to step outside of her comfort zone and be there for people no matter what they need. I could stay on this page and write for days all the things that I love about my soon to be wife. But ultimately, I am grateful for every moment that we have gotten to spend together, and I thank God that He decided to send her to me, when He knew was the right time. Favorite Dates Definitely the Pottery Class, which was a little bit outside of my comfort zone, but I had such an amazing time... just being with her and watching her try and make the perfect piece. Honestly, this might sound a little lame, but I love the times that we go to the store (Costco or Target) if we are together... just walking through the aisles (either planning the week or just dinner together) are my favorite memories with her.
