Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport
Lisbon is the closest international airport to Evora. It makes for a great place to start or end your trip with easy train access to several cities and affordable car rentals. Tip: If your home airport doesn't have direct flights to Lisbon, it is sometimes cheaper to buy two separate tickets rather than buying a single ticket (one ticket to get you to the city with direct service, and another to Lisbon). Cities with direct flights are: Washington Dulles, Chicago, New York, Boston, Miami, San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Similarly, if your home airport offers direct flights to other major European cities it can also be cheaper to book two tickets--one to the hub city and another to Lisbon.

Transportation from Lisbon to Evora
There are many ways to get to Evora depending on your preferred mode of transit and where you want to go as a next stop. Buses, trains and car rentals are all available. Car rental: We use Sixt at Lisbon's airport. Their take-a-ticket system upon arrival works efficiently and staff are always very friendly. That said, all the major companies are available. You can also rent cars from Lisbon's Oriente train station, depending on your travel schedule. Trains: Trains run 4-5 times a day between Lisbon Oriente station and Evora. This is a large former convent turned hotel and spa about 15 minutes outside of the city. The accommodations are nice with plenty of services, including two restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools and spa. There is free parking on premises, but going into town will require you to drive or call a taxi.
